Khalid Faizi

Khalid is an established entrepreneur with over 40 years of diverse International and local experience in business, finance, commerce, industry and power development. Developed and built business enterprises in mining, trading, export of chromite, barite and mica minerals, black granite quarrying, telecommunication, power generation, logistics and oil & gas through dedicated corporate vehicles.

He has been a driving force in the formulation of legal, technical, constitutional and policy framework to develop Pakistan’s private hydropower sector creating a bankable template for financing and construction of hydel IPPs. His efforts lead to the development of Laraib Energy Ltd, in terms of financing and construction of 84 MW New Bong Escape, low-head hydel project. This was Pakistan’s “first” Project finance deal for a private hydropower project with a mix of conventional and Islamic finance; the “first” hydropower registered with UNFCCC for carbon credits under CDM and the “first” renewable middle east “deal of the year” 2010 award by the prestigious Euromoney.

He has been chief strategist and negotiator appointed by Alstom Power, Germany in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) with WAPDA. He has also been a member of steering committee for fast-track development of private hydropower projects constituted by Government of AJ&K as well as one of the founding directors on the Board of Directors of Bank of Kashmir.

Khalid is a Fellow member of Institute of Chartered Accountants in England &Wales as well as a Fellow member of Institute of Chartered Accountants Pakistan.
